The Stanton Warriors are always going to cause a scene where ever they go but for such a small venue like this!? It was crazy. Tickets were sold out well in advance and the scene was set. It was nice to see the Stanton's turn up earlier than their set time. It was revealed to all that this was due to their larger set up than usual. Lots of midi controllers and 30 mins later and they were ready to roll. They started off with a rather mediocre introduction. Nothing too jaw dropping but lifting the crowd slowly to bring them up on their high. However after my slight disappointment of a slow start it was short lived when the pair dropped some of the grimiest break beat tunes I’ve not heard for a long while. They pulled off some real good tricks and really showed their skills as top DJ’s on the market today. They kept the crowd energy level to an absolute maximum throughout the whole set. The pair also used their midi keyboard which was heavily incorporated into their performance not only showing DJ skills but also their production skills.
The venue itself was rather pleasant. However it was a bit smaller than I expected DJ’s of their status to play. None the less it was an awesome atmosphere inside the small venue. There was generally speaking a real good vibe within the dance floor. You can see this from the pictures that were captured from the night. Our photographer had real problems with the amount of smoke that was being continuously pumped out which as some of you may know always makes a photographers job hell.
Anyone who wasn’t there missed Stanton Warriors play a pretty much perfect set at one of Southamptons most established bars for bringing in the top names! Orange rooms will no doubt continue to please their growing regular fan base by bringing in the top acts. While i was there i spyed a poster for Plump DJ's. One things for sure Southamptons Orange rooms have it going on and its very BIG for a small place right now.
Last time we caught up with the Stanton's was on stage during their set at Glade festival last summer. To Underground Music this set in a small packed to capacity venue was far better than the full tent to a couple of thousand at glade festival!
