The Eclectricity Warehouse Party |
This weekend, The Custard Factory in Birmingham was host to some of the countries leading DJ’s as it put on yet another huge and successful night, The Eclectricity Warehouse Party. By day a revolutionary arts and media centre, by night a space that transforms into a unique clubbing scene! The space is a sprawl of riverside factories which got its name from builder and inventor of custard, Sir Alfred Bird and has become a dynamic space that has brought in the best of UK talent from artists to musicians and dancers.
The Custard Factory is definitely doing all the right things to put itself up there with the UK’s biggest clubbing arenas and this weekend was an unforgettable night and one of many that I would certainly recommend to all those lovers of dance music. With its late night partying, huge events and top DJ’s and bands gracing the scene, the club creates an electric atmosphere for all to enjoy. Especially with headliners this weekend such as, The End’s favourite DJ Erol Alkan, techno marvel James Zabiela and house legend Felix Da Housecat; the night was going to be one to go down in The Custard Factory’s history. Unfortunately there was a tiny let down, as Radio One’s Annie Mac was unable to attend after being fitted for the bill for months. Despite this disappointment the night still pulled in the crowds and there didn’t seem to be any dissatisfied music fans.
The party was held in the Space 2 part of the warehouse, a serial experience for first timers and a very Skins moment as many of the raves and parties have proved!!! With a huge state of the art sound system, the space provided an excellent venue for those who were ready to take on the weekend, let their hair down and rave until the early morning! From previous experiences at the factory the only negative things I have found are the long queues to get into the main room and the lack of help from the stewards. However, this time the club confirmed it can create a stress free night with numerous posters of the DJ times and easy to access toilets, bars and food stalls.
The DJ’s also created an unforgettable night. Erol Alkan’s mixes were to say the least, one of the best I have heard with everyone identifying themselves with the tunes being dropped. His memorable remixes of techno, electro and massive dance-floor classics pumped through the crowd. The one DJ who definitely got the audience going in my opinion, was James Zabiela and with help from a brilliant lighting system, the club undeniably excited the music loving crowd! Zabiela extended the breakdown of his tunes until the tension was unbearable before dropping the beat back in! The audience enjoyed it that’s for sure as all you saw from the entrance of the room was a sea of people jumping, cheering and waving their arms!
Felix Da Housecat stepped up last, but definitely not least as he played in his blistering electro beats surrounded by blue and green lighting and wearing his legendary sunglasses! All round The Custard Factory delivered another successful night and one that will be remembered. If you think this is your type of night check out the Eclectricity May Festival on May Bank holiday weekend with a brilliant line up including; Steve Angello, Calvin Harris, Annie Mac, Scratch Perverts, Friction, Chase & Status, Boys Noize and many more….!
