Today we caught up with the main man, only twenty minutes after he had rocked the main stage. That band was Limp Bizkit and that man was Fred Durst the bands lead vocalist.
Bizkits intro combined of DJ Lethal stepping up to the stage and laying down his thing on the decks for a couple of minutes, before eventually being joined by Borland on guitar, Rivers on bass and Otto on drums. A few more minutes later and still no sign of the front man but his voice appearing through the PA. This is Limp Bizkits year of a comeback and with only playing Download two months ago and Londons HMV Forum the night before this was Bizkits 3rd UK date this year so demand was still as high as ever. When Durst finally made an appearance the band broke down to My Generation to get the show started.
Bizkits set was filled with all the hits to please the 25k strong crowd that had scrambled to get to the stage to “break the fuck out”. Durst then dedicated ‘Hot Dog’ to one of his favourite artists which he said influenced him and Limp Bizkit for the length of their career. This artist / producer was Mr Trent Reznor who was next up after Bizkit with his full band of brothers which make Nine Inch Nails.
Bizkit finished on a huge high with ‘Take a look around’ which quite possibly got the loudest crowd reception of the night. Other hits such as ‘Rollin’ and ‘Nookie’ also went down a storm, kept the crowd bouncing and the circle pits flowing. Durst joined the fans down at the front for a couple of songs midway through their set which was a nice touch but would of caused more than a few bruised ribs for some!
When chatting to Durst after the performance we grilled him with questions and asked what he thought of Soniphere festival compared to Download. His response was “Download was crispy man, soo hot, but you liked today yea!?”. Durst wanted our opinions and listened to everything that we had to say with an attentive attitude which displayed a respect that most may not always get to see from the stage. We then moved on to talk about his dedication to Reznor and his thoughts on NIN. “Their production is of the highest quality and ive been a fan right from the beginning. We were pleased to come out and warm up the crowd before NIN and its a shame they are calling it a day” said Durst. After posing for a photograph with us we let Fred get back on with his after show relaxing routine with his wife in the artist bar.
Business for Limp Bizkit right now is strong and they are building on their already huge careers. With a large online fan base behind them they continue to bring back their presence and make it bigger than ever before.. The following blog was posted on their website of the bands come back first gig.

Limp Bizkit are in the middle off their 2009 “Unicorns N Rainbows” tour, which has so far rolled across Europe and Eastern Europe, wowing Bizkit-starved fans in 20 countries. Of their explosive June 12th show at the UK’s Download Festival, one reviewer noted: “Within seconds, the staccato riff of ‘Break Stuff’ had regressed everyone to a screaming teen” and that “every song provoked roars of approval, every line of ‘Nookie’ belted out as if the crowd had written it.” Heavy-music bible Kerrang! anointed Limp Bizkit with their April cover.
Fred Durst, Wes Borland, Sam Rivers, John Otto, and DJ Lethal are gearing up to record their first new studio album with the original line-up since 2000's worldwide 12x-platinum Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water. As Durst recently told the NME: "I'm having a great feeling about going in and doing our record, more than I have about any of our albums before. It's not going to be a watered-down version of Limp Bizkit, it's going to be a more explosive, more addictive, more driven version of Limp Bizkit." http://www.nme.com/artists/limp-bizkit
Flip/Interscope Records will announce more details and a release date in the coming months. The band's first three albums have sold more than 20 million copies in the U.S. alone, and another 13 million in the rest of the world.
