Be Kissy Friend, Be Kissy Foe, Kissy Sell Out, He Got No Dow.
Since his last stint in Southampton, Kissy Sell Out marked his territory effortlessly as an infamous guest DJ of Junk. Rapidly rising up in the ranks to become a wild electro-pop DJ, everyone has become a little bit ravenous for the Essex born musical miracle.
With the release of his debut album, Youth, back in June, Kissy and the gang set off on their Kissy and Ko Youth Tour, stopping by once again to scratch some serious shit into the decks of Junk. With Kissy’s name literally on the tip of everyone’s tongue lately, it was indefinite that this was going to be a big night.
To kick the night off, supporting acts Cashley and Luvstuff warmed up the bass generating a comfortable hype for everyone to get started on. Following were resident DJ’s Mr Noisy & BITR8, who made their company apparent by pumping their psychedelic mixes into the bloodstreams of everyone surrounding. As they launched more electro beats for everyone to taste into the hours of the early morning, the hysteria for Kissy was building up. As our residents announced Kissy was in the building, the hype broke out and the dance floor flooded with Kissy cravers.
Making his way across to the DJ booth, Kissy made his first appearance, dressed in a black t-shirt sporting the words ‘Essex Raver’ and wearing some rather cool, thick rimmed specs.
Once catching glimpse of his presence, the crowds hurdled towards the box, grabbing their spot for some epic Kissy raving. Placing his headphones on and saluting the crowd, Kissy embarked on a whirlwind of mind blowing, frantic mixes.
As soon as his music ripped into the decks and out of the speakers, the place exploded with bass. Kissy found his comfort zone very quickly and already had the crowd pining for him as he threw one remix after another at the Junk pride. He has everyone on the tips of his fingers, propelling hearts in their throats and leaving legs shaking from the rupturing floor.
From theme tunes, to mixes of all the best club anthems, Kissy poured more and more sweat onto the decks, as the crowd’s received a severe sugar rush for his blood-pumping beats. He toyed with his audience and they loved it. Prodigy’s Omen seeped in and everyone chimed, only to find Kissy wickedly spun into Dizzee Rascal’s Bonkers, which set his Junk clubbers into a frenzied rave.
Watching Kissy, his cheeky grin remained on his face throughout and with the odd bite of the lip and head bang, he was on his way to achieving Junk victory as the greatest DJ to hit the decks.
The one-hour set ended too soon though. As he began to wind down, everyone seemed oblivious to the fact that time had passed so quickly. As Kissy handed the headphones over to his guest DJ A1 Bassline, he casually stepped back and out onto the floor, to be received by the mob of fans that were awaiting him.
Laid back and incredibly tranquil, he really seemed like one of us as he stood and chatted for a while. When being told he was being reviewed for Underground Music, he surprisingly said: “Really, God did I do okay?”
Yes Kissy, you most certainly did.
