Enter has already gained a good reputation and following over the South coast with some of the best Drum and Bass nights hosting the biggest artists in the scene. As Southampton’s Drum and Bass Scene is evolving and growing it is good to see there is a new night starting which is offering another style aside from the majority of liquid nights that are currently in Southampton.
Southampton’s new monthly Drum and Bass night ‘Enter’ made its debut at the newly refurbished Bliss Club Rooms. Headlining the event was Brookes Brothers and Original Sin.
As I walked into the club I was impressed with the new layout I liked the sunken dance floor and funky DJ booth. The club had cheap drinks offers which kept the ravers happy, and most importantly the speakers sounded crisp and the bass sounded dark!
Local DJ/Producers, Klip and Whitey warmed the crowd up with a jump up selection to impress, with deep dark bass lines which quickly filled the dance floor and worked the crowd into a frenzy ready for Original Sin.
Original Sin or Adam Tindall was originally part of the duo G Dub, they were pioneers of early Jump up but now Adam is going solo and making a name for himself under the new alias. I was excited to hear his set as I knew it would be energetic from start to finish...I wasn’t disappointed.
He made his entrance by dropping in his own tune ‘Therapy VIP’ which the crowd lapped up, finding it hard to resist the jungle breaks in this tune I just had to have a stomp. Local MC’s Visionobi and Bensta hyped up the crowd with their lyrics, these MC’s know just how to release their energy onto the crowd and get them involved. The bass seemed to get heavier and darker as his set progressed. Top tunes of his set would have to be ‘D For Danger- Original Sin’ and ‘Mr Happy-DJ Hazard’.
Then it was onto Brookes Brothers, well one half of the London based duo. I was surprised to hear the set start out with more of a jump feel to it, but this made an easy transition from Original Sin, as the set progressed he worked his way onto the deeper liquid tunes that the brothers are so well known for, dropping ‘Tear you down’ and ‘Chase and Status-Take me away’ which had the crowd peaking and singing along to the smooth flows. The dance floor was energetic to say the least and the crowd went crazy for ‘Shock One-Polygon’, ‘Sigma-Paint It Black’ and ‘Sub Focus-Airplane’.
