Enter Shikari - Southampton Guildhall Nov 30th 2008.

Last time I saw Shikari (a year ago) on their last tour they were poor. Their stage set up was made for the kids and even the humour was geared up for 16 and under. This was a shame. Ive been following Shikari for a good few years now and their UK tour last year was lame for the older market. It was as if they adjusted to the younger fans that followed them. Two months before their UK tour I saw them perform at a festival in Holland. This was a totally different vibe. It was insane. There Carnage in the tent with the biggest in tent circle pit that ive seen in my life. But lets not talk about the past.
Shikari were back for a third time at the Southampton Guildhall. This time with a real stage set up. This time with an organized official after show party for charity. Things were big and they needed to be. However the majority age of fans was still 12-16. The lads had that older mature attitude again to their work. It was the old Shikari back again. They have also done extensive work on their sound. The synths had been perfected and the kit sounded punchy. The atmosphere in the guildhall was hazy and sweaty from the circle pits forming all through out the crowd. Ok so you may have lots of kids smacking other kids trying to make out its the next best thing, but this time it was not spoiling it. Shikari are aware of this and changing it for the better.
It’s good to see such a great bunch of lads doing their thing, keeping fans happy, playing the new hits and also playing for charity after the gig.
RESPECT
8/10
